Alberta Spring Championships

Alberta Spring Championships was held over March 16-19 at the Kinsmen Pool in Edmonton.

The Pirates sent 3 qualified swimmers to the meet, where all 3 swimmers made it to finals—placing in the top 2 heats.

In the opening event, Jewel Shewchuk started the Pirates off with a strong 1500 Freestyle, placing 6th in the 15 and older girls.

On Day 2—Jewel Shewchuk made finals and placed 14th 200 Fly—with a new team record of 2:59.9. Brevan Wagner made finals and placed 19th boys 14-15 100 Backstroke!

In Day 3—Ryan Boll made finals in the 16 and Older boys 50 Backstroke—finishing 16th with a new team record time of 30.01! Brevan Wagner made finals in 2 events, finishing 8th in the 14-15 Boys 50 Backstroke and placing 13th in the 100 Butterfly!

On the last day of Spring Champs, Ryan Boll finished in 9th place during his A-final performance in the 50 Butterfly. His performance lowered the team record to 27.08—a new Western Cut. Jewel Shewchuk finished 11th in the 800 Freestyle with a new team record performance—lowering Anna Stuarts time of 12:40.3 down to 9:56.26!
