We go to Calgary because we want to expose our swimmers to a variety of competition. The kids in Calgary are fast and there is also depth in the field—meaning a fraction of a second could separate 4th place from 8th place in a 100 free. So all the “small skills” count. Swimmers push themselves, and a lot of learning takes place in a close race.
Swim meets are when the most learning takes place, because kids are engaged and if they follow the process—they get coaching helpful feedback right after their race.
Killarney is a 3-day meet. It is NOT a requirement to attend all three days. Friday is the 200 back/breast and 400 Free/IM. Most of the Pirates will be braving some of these events in the PZDA. If people from En & Ch can get there…we encourage them to swim the 400 IM Friday night!
The Saturday and Sunday portion of the swim meet is Prelim and Finals. Meaning if your swimmer makes/qualifies for Finals they are expected to attend. Relay teams will swim in Finals. So please plan to stay for the whole meet.
